Step into the real metaverse with Dragon Scales VR. This is about community, cross-chain assets, and empowering localized content. For those that have been putting in the time, developing the worlds, and constructing the assets, the corporate vision Mark Zuckerberg’s META is nothing short of laughable when compared to the virtual reality that was here long ago. Take a few minutes to dive down the rabbit hole and you will be surprised just how real this virtual space can be.

The Metaverse before META:

We’ve had comic books discuss this concept of multiple universes where the story line carries a similar format and all the characters exist in a new world with different interactions. They always refer to it as the DC Universe or Marvel Universe, stating that in this specific story everything is a certain format and follows certain rules to make the story possible. This was the original concept of a metaverse, a theme of rules and guidelines to keep the story in check.

Wolverine had an adamantium skeleton. No matter where he shows up in what video game or movie, this is a necessary part of the character. This becomes a rule of the metaverse, something that is true to the story and transferable to any other place the character is referenced.

So what is the metaverse community?

This is a beautiful concept where the rules of the metaverse are built by content creators and any concepts they want to include. Often times we have areas to hang out, scenic overlooks, exploration, and often art and 3d models are infused into these spaces. It really is fueled by what ever a content creator wants to provide.

Generally this follows the basic guidelines for a video game, with an HDRI sphere backdrop to give world depth, a 3D plane to move on, a sense of time and restriction of movement based on world mechanics such as gravity and solid objects, and often basic object mechanics such as a place to sit or other centralized location to gather.

The community creates new worlds, new characters, and new concepts all within the limits of the platform which are ever expanding with technology.

This community thrives on player interaction and social life. With content creators often visiting other content creators to praise the attention to detail and possibly meet the world creator face to face.

Where Zuckerberg’s META falls flat is the failure to convey user content and freedom of design. Without a community driven platform there is nothing to explore, no expression to be had, and no community to thrive. This is a key element that you can’t pay for, it has to grow from the roots.

Now what do we mean, cross-chain assets?

Simply put, to be a metaverse you have to allow transfers between worlds, so a small metaverse could be a game with user content. The grand vision of the metaverse that content creators are speaking of is building an object in one world that can be used in another.

Say you create a picture of a dog, you put it in a frame through 3D software such as blender and export it as a file to be used in your VR world. You can export that same 3D file to another world, and use it as many times as you like. As long as the world supports some sort of 3D content creation it is already opening it’s doors for cross-chain compatibility.

We can do this with digital assets from the unity asset store, a common marketplace for 3D assets. We can take our favorite free asset and export it to blender, convert it and map it for any other software such as unreal engine, and now export it for a PlayStation game that allows for user content.

As technology advances we can expect to see simple conversion and some day possibly live conversion.

Imagine walking through a doorway where you are inside a VR world hanging out with your friends, but as you walk through the doorway your character is exported in real time where suddenly your in your favorite game but your character is the same. The cup you were holding converted file types and exported directly into your favorite game as well.

Now you can interact with game physics and game laws, setting the cup on a table or throwing it off a cliff never to be seen again. Don’t worry, it’s still right in your house when you go back, it just helps with immersive platforms and never breaks the realism to sit in a loading screen.

Where Do We Begin?

For those working towards this surreal experience, cultivating community driven content is the only way to go. You want a world to be wild and free, open to the imagination, and more interesting that you could dream. The idea of forced structure and corporate bureaucracy in a digital space is not only completely against nature but society as a whole. We don’t need companies exploiting our data, studying how our children interact, and harvesting user input. We need a user created, social platform that explores society in a free space with detached interest. We need freedom.

Check out the smaller platforms, the independent VR games, the places far from the mainstream titles. You will find a beautiful and sometimes chaotic world where new ideas can flourish and nature can exist. Whatever you decide to call it, the metaverse might not be the next big thing. It might be what we’ve been missing lately. It might be our natural society breaking away from corporations and looking for a place to thrive together again.

From everyone in the DSVR community, we can’t wait to see you.

Please consider sharing this as it would help us greatly.
